The circuit can be composed of one or more cameras connected to one or more monitors.

To improve the system, are usually connected directly or via network link other components such as VCRs or computers.

The cameras can be controlled remotely from a control room, where you can set your pan, focus, tilt and zoom.

These systems include night vision, computer-assisted operations and motion detection, which facilitates the system be on alert when something moves in front of cameras.

Closed Circuit TV is a video surveillance technology designed to monitor a variety of environments and activities.

It is called closed loop because, unlike what happens with the media, all components are linked.

Moreover, unlike conventional television, this is a system designed for a limited number of spectators.

How to design a CCTV system

It must take account of seven steps for proper system design:

Determine the purpose of the CCTV system and describe the purpose of each camera in the system.
Define the areas that each camera displayed.
Choosing the proper lens for each camera.
Determine where you will locate the monitor or monitors to display the system.
Determine the best method for transmitting the video signal from camera to monitor.
Designing the control area.
Choosing the team based in the notes of the system design.

Choosing cameras

The cameras should be selected according to three criteria:
Sensitivity: refers to the actual amount of visible or infrared light needed to produce a quality image.
Resolution: Sets the image quality from a detail or breeding prospect.
Features: are settings that give extra edge over other cameras.
